The Klickitat Treehouse: A Unique Stay in the Pacific Northwest
From the moment I saw this Airbnb from my parked car, I knew it was one of those places that stays with you long after you leave. I’ve actually had this spot on my radar to photograph for a while, and finally staying there felt just as special as I imagined. It wasn’t just a beautiful space, it was all the little details that made it feel unique. The ambiance, the cozy wood fire, the quiet simplicity of no TV but plenty of books and games, and the way the cabin sat tucked into the trees… everything invited you to slow down and really be present.
Staying in a modern treehouse was unforgettable. Waking up among the branches with soft morning light felt so peaceful. Birds in the distance, wind through the trees, and even the provided binoculars made it easy to take in the surrounding forest and notice the little details.
What stood out most was how intentional everything felt. You could tell the owners, Tayrn and Colin, put real thought into every detail and genuinely wanted their guests to remember their stay. Nothing felt random, every corner was thoughtfully designed it had purpose, a mood, a story behind it. They wanted to “find a way to create and share spaces of our own,” and they did just that with the Klickitat Treehouse.
One of my favorite touches was the guest book. Page after page of handwritten notes from travelers sharing what they did, how they felt, and what this place meant to them during their stay. It reminded me that a great stay isn’t just about a comfortable bed—it’s about the experience, the memories, and the moments you carry with you.
And then there was something I didn’t expect at all.
Tucked inside the space, I found a sketch of the treehouse drawn by a little boy. On the back, it said he was eight years old. The drawing was surprisingly thoughtful and detailed—honestly, pretty incredible for someone so young. Seeing it instantly took me back to my own childhood, to those early days when I was just beginning my creative journey and falling in love with making things.
That sketch stuck with me. It felt like a small but meaningful piece of the story this place holds. I knew it needed to be photographed—not just as an object, but as a moment. A reminder of creativity, imagination, and how special it is when a space inspires people of all ages.
This Airbnb isn’t just somewhere to stay. It’s somewhere to feel something. And that’s exactly the kind of place I love to experience and photograph.
